I just want to say how awesome Lou was who cleaned our carpets. He was very professional, nice and made me feel comfortable. Sometimes when you have service people that need to come to your house, you don't know who your going to get and I get nervous being a female and alone. I hope the owner acknowledges Lou. Also, I have ordered carpet here and same thing.

Central Carpet has been at the top of our list for home improvement needs for years. The owners and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Their installers and their carpet cleaning service has actually improved over the years. Today, Josh and Louis came to clean our area rugs that just look so amazing done and brought back to life. They moved all the furniture carefully so no spot was left undone. They were careful with the hardwood flooring making sure no wet residue was left behind. Everything was put back in place exactly where it was before. The two were efficient, friendly and courteous. We don't have to do anything, except remove the styrofoam from beneath the furniture and enjoy our fresh looking and smelling rugs again. The cost for all this was very reasonable. This is the company we will be going to when we redo our living area next year. And, this is the value of repeated good service over the years. This review replaces one I wrote 4 years ago with a 5 then.

I've used them for everything: new carpet, new vinyl flooring, carpet cleaning, and duct cleaning. They do beautiful work and use professional people, AND they are very price competitive. Empire Carpet came out and quoted us on their "half price flooring and installation" special sale, and Central Carpet's price was lower.

Had a small floor replaced in my powder room and carpets stretched (installed by a big-box store) in my living room and dining room. Two different crews arrived ON TIME, got in, did the work and got out. The estimate for the cost of the job, and the time it would take were exactly as promised when the job was estimated!. The floor in my powder room is just gorgeous. My carpets look perfect. The carpet guys were knowledgeable, knew just what to do, were neat and just totally professional. When I was in the store to select the flooring, the sales personnel were so helpful. Most of all, their prices for material and labor were outstanding. I had planned on a cheap peel and stick, but the one piece vinyl flooring they suggested was not only cheaper, but looks a thousand times better, I would definitely recommend them as your first place to look for your flooring needs.

Wonderful work. They cleaned a carpet that I couldn't get clean with every potion and cleaner on the regular market. Another company tried 2 times to get a big stain out from the base of a Lazy Boy recliner and didn't get it out . I was thrilled that Central Carpet got this done. I had them clean all the rugs in the house and also clean my long dryer vent. A piece of pipe needed replacement and I didn't know this. I am so glad that they found this and fixed it. Then after an unfortunate sewer problem on my first floor, they replaced all carpets on this floor and did an excellent job. The owner, Dave, made sure I got the best price and floor mgr. Lindsey helped me pick the right linoleum and carpet. She is an expert at matching colors and knows what looks right for a home, industrial place or anywhere. She helped me with a kitchen problem last yr. and had to match older tile and did a perfect job. The carpet installers did a fantastic job and I am a happy client of theirs forever.

We have used Central Carpet for many years now and have never been disappointed with the carpeting we've purchased or their carpet cleaning service. The company is very reliable, the service desk people are so polite, and their technicians keep getting better and better. Today a new technician, Josh, came to clean our extremely dirty living room rug that recently suffered through some major home remodeling along with our own dailey heavy usage. He was able to bring back that 18 year old rug close to its original beauty. Now to me that is just amazing! I highly recommend this company for all of their services, their fair pricing, and their back-up of work performed.

Resilient Flooring

Armstrong     |     Hybrid Fusion     |     IVC US     |     Mannington     |     Primo Floorz     |     Stainmaster Vinyl     |     US Floors Coretec

Resilient flooring:  is a term used to describe a multitude of materials, which includes: Vinyl Products (Tile, Plank, and Sheet); Linoleum; Rubber (Tile, and Sheet); and Bio-Based Tile.

Why Buy Resilient Flooring?

Resilient flooring is an amazing material if you’re looking for something that is both a great value and long lasting.  It is softer under foot than ceramic tile and wood, which makes it a great choice in kitchens where you’ll spend a lot of time standing. Its ability to hold up under the harshest of conditions is why it is used frequently in commercial settings.

Resilient flooring is a great solution for residential applications as well. Breakthroughs in digital printing allow manufacturers to create the look of expensive stone, wood and ceramic floors with stunning realism at a fraction of the cost of the real material.

Another huge benefit of using resilient flooring is the easy maintenance. It is highly water and stain resistant. You will only have to sweep up dirt and debris periodically. If you need a deeper clean, you only need to use a damp mop. Follow all manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.

Types of Resilient Flooring

There are different materials available depending on the setting you will be using the flooring in. For example, if you are looking to floor a residential area like your home kitchen you will likely choose one of the following materials:

  • Residential sheet vinyl
  • Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)
  • Vinyl Tile (SVT)
  • Linoleum

If you are in need of flooring for a commercial setting you will have some different options. Your material options for a project like that will include:

  • Commercial Sheet Vinyl
  • Linoleum
  • Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT)
  • Bio-Based Tile (BBT)
  • Rubber Sheet
  • Rubber Tile

We sell only the best brands of resilient flooring available, and are happy to assist you in choosing the type that will best suit your needs.  Call, stop in today to see our extensive selection of resilient flooring.

Cork Flooring

US Floors Cork

Buying Tips for Cork Flooring

Why Buy Cork Flooring?
Cork is a progressive design option that offers high-end durability. Cork is a highly resilient flooring because it has elasticity and gives on impact. This makes cork a great option for comfort and sturdiness.

Cork is also known for its abundant design options. The versatile material allows for stains in many shades and it can also be painted. You can have the benefits of cork and still match any décor you choose.

Cork Flooring is Good for the Environment
If you are looking for an environmentally friendly option, cork is the perfect choice. This is because cork can be harvested from a tree without damaging the tree or stunting its growth. This makes cork the most naturally renewable resource for flooring.

What Type of Cork is Best?
It really all depends on your needs. Use plank-shaped cork if you are installing over existing flooring, but use tile-shaped if you need to glue it down. We can help you determine which is best.

Cork texture will greatly impact the look of your cork flooring. Small granules give your floor that traditional cork flooring look you are likely used to. A peeled cork texture gives it a beautiful natural cork look.  There are many other textures and designs to choose from. Contact us today and we’ll make sure you get the right one for your home’s needs..

Bamboo Flooring

CFS     |     Teragren     |     US Floors Bamboo

Buying Tips for Bamboo Flooring

Why Buy Bamboo Flooring?
Bamboo flooring is one of the best ways to get a combination of beauty and durability. It is most known for its strength and stability, making it a great choice for flooring that lasts for many years. Although bamboo is actually a type of grass, it can be harder than oak, giving you a long lasting material.

Bamboo vs. Hardwood
It has a lot of the same benefits of hardwood plus a few more. It has less risk of damage due to expansion or contraction. It is also particularly resistant to insects and mildew growth. Bamboo is one the most recent materials to be used as flooring, but it is also one of the most environmentally friendly. It is a rapidly renewable resource that can be harvested every 5-7 years. An oak tree takes 60 years or more before it’s ready to be re-harvested. This makes bamboo a great choice for environmentally conscious consumers who are concerned about sustainability.

What Type of Bamboo to Buy?
There are a few color options to choose from to get the look you want. You can do a natural bamboo color are get a direct print bamboo to create bamboo flooring that looks like an entirely different type of floor.

There are different grain types for different looks. Vertical grain gives you a uniform, smooth look while horizontal grain helps display the bamboo’s random growth rings. The hardest of the grain types is strand-woven which also gives a random look revealing the natural character of your bamboo floors. Contact us today, so we can help you make the right decision when purchasing your new flooring.

Laminate Flooring

Armstrong     |     Kraus Laminate     |     Mannington     |     Quick Step     |     Unilin

Why Buy Laminate Flooring?
If you have and active household, laminate will fit right in. It is designed to be durable and withstand a ton of foot traffic. It is highly resilient and will last for years. Laminate floors are very resistant to wear, fading and stains. Most are sold with a warranty to back that up.

Another benefit is the ease of installation. If you like to handle home projects on your own, laminate is a favorite among do-it-yourselfers. You can find glue-less installation options as well as self-locking laminate that can be installed on most subfloor types.

Laminate is a Cost-effective Substitute
Laminate is a master of disguise. It can look like almost any other style of flooring. Because it is made from less costly material, you can get expensive looks for a lot less money. With the latest breakthroughs in printing technology, you can find an extremely convincing laminate substitute for many different floor types.

Hardwood Flooring

Century Flooring Hardwood     |     CFS     |     Harris Wood     |     Horizon Floors     |     Lauzon Hardwood     |     Mannington     |     Natural Cork     |     Somerset Hardwood Flooring

Buying Tips for Hardwood Flooring

Factory Finish vs. Custom Sand & Finish on Site
You should feel comfortable with either choice. However, factory finishing offers many nice advantages. Factory finished flooring is inspected for defects at the mill so you receive first choice every time. On-site finishing depends on the quality of the workmanship that day.

Factory finished flooring usually installs more quickly and without the dust and odors that are involved with on-site finishing. However, even though factory finished flooring comes in a variety of colors, on-site finishing allows for closer color match with existing woodwork or cabinets.

Both factory finishes and on-site finishes are available in either high gloss or matte. Both types have exciting new finishes developed with space age technology. These finishes are not like grandma’s old wood floors because they require no waxing.

Engineered products install where no solid hardwood dares to go
Prior to the development of engineered hardwood flooring, hardwood products could not be installed on slab or in your basement without a special subfloor system. Now you can enjoy real hardwood flooring in those areas without all that fuss and expense. A special cross-ply construction eliminates the problem of expansion and contraction usually associated with solid hardwood.

Don’t become overly concerned with thinner or thicker top wood layers associated with engineered products because it’s the finish you are walking on. Generally speaking you won’t need to re-sand and finish these products; just re-coat them unless you need to change the color.

Special considerations when selecting hardwood flooring
Direct sunlight can affect the color of hardwood stains, therefore closing curtains or shades during peak periods will reduce damage. Area rugs left in place for extended periods of time may expose a shading difference once they are removed from the remainder of the floor.

Large pets with sharp toenails can also damage even the best finishes.

Ceramic & Porcelain

Dal Tile     |     Florida Tile     |     Mannington

Buying Tips for Ceramic & Porcelain Tile

The correct subfloor structure is critical to performance
Ceramic tile, more than any other form of flooring, requires the proper subfloor system and setting materials. A double subfloor system with the total thickness of 1-1/4″, over floor joists 16″ on center is required. The top subfloor layer should be exterior grade plywood or an underlayment specifically designed for ceramic tile installation like cementous backerboard.

Special setting materials are available which will allow ceramic tile installations over existing floors that are solid and already meet the above requirements. Failure to provide a sturdy base can cause grout to crack and release or tile to crack.

Although many ceramic tiles look the same, there are quality differences
The quality of raw materials, the firing process, and the sophistication of glazing applications that create realism will determine the quality of the finished product. These quality differences are often reflected in the price.

Selecting the right surface glaze is an important step when selecting floor tile
Floor tiles are rated for glaze wear and slip resistance, which are important factors to consider. Glaze ratings should exceed 3 for residential applications with the exception of bath areas that can use tiles rated 2. Tiles with a slip resistant rating of 0.5 or better should work well in most indoor residential applications.

Use caution when selecting tile for installations outdoors. Unglazed quarry tiles, tiles with heavily textured surfaces, or porcelain paver tiles, all with slip resistant ratings of 0.6 or greater are possibilities. They must also be frost resistant.

Request the best in setting materials
New latex modified mortars and grouts provide better strength while also allowing greater flexibility.

Special Caution
Dropping objects on ceramic tile–particularly heavy ones–can chip even the best tiles.

Buying Tips for Carpet & Rugs

Don’t take the quality of your carpet cushion lightly
The performance of many carpets will hinge on the performance of the cushion. Spending a few extra dollars on cushion can mean extra years of performance for your carpet. Some carpet warranties also hinge on the grade of cushion you select. Carpet cushion affects the luxury feel underfoot, quietness, resilience, cleaning, insulation, and, ultimately, the life of your carpet. Crushing or flattening of your carpet fiber causes it to look ugly long before it’s useful wear life is over. Quality cushion will help resist this condition.

Don’t judge the quality by feel alone
Thick and luxurious carpet can fool you at times. Determine the performance you want and the conditions effecting your carpet. A tighter twisted fiber doesn’t feel as soft but it will generally give you better performance over the life of the carpet. A tightly twisted yarn will resist soiling, matting and crushing. When a yarn is not tightly twisted it may feel more luxurious but it will tend to crush and flatten out more quickly.

Read the labels
Generally speaking you can review the stain resistance, anti-static claims and wear warranties right on the back of the sample. You also will see the type of fiber ( nylon, polyester, polypropylene, etc.), the face weight, density, and twist.

There is no substitute for a knowledgeable sales person
As you can see there are a wide variety of issues to resolve in buying the best carpet for your needs. The performance and quality characteristics of carpet vary more widely than that of other flooring materials and a knowledgeable sales person will help you match up your performance needs.

Buying Tips for Vinyl Flooring

The new generation of vinyl floors have new finishes, different construction and new types of backing. They are designed for better wear, clearer pattern definition, and easier to maintain and install. Manufacturers have gone primarily to cushioned products with wider widths to reduce the number of seams. New innovations in backing have made the today’s cushion vinyl floors more resistant to rips, tears and back staining. Most residential sheet flooring offer no-wax performance and a wide variety of colors and patterns--more than any other flooring product and generally speaking, cushion vinyl flooring is the most economical of all flooring choices.

Some products are designed to help you reduce subfloor preparation costs
Next to ceramic tile, vinyl flooring installation demands properly prepared subflooring. Most cushion vinyl products are thin and when they are installed with a full spread of adhesive over a poorly prepared subfloor, irregularities can telegraph through. New products designed for perimeter or loose lay installation will greatly reduce the effects of subfloor irregularities while lowering subfloor preparation costs. In fact, many of these products can be installed over you existing flooring.

Luxury Vinyl Products
Manufacturer’s have raised vinyl flooring to a whole new level when it comes to luxury vinyl product offerings. New technologies have led to greater realism in design and structures every bit as rugged as older inlaid products, and all of this without giving up the easy no-wax maintenance that is desired.

Special considerations when choosing sheet vinyl flooring
Beware of asphalt driveways as asphalt can react to certain conditions and transfer into the vinyl resulting in permanent staining. Be careful when moving or dragging heavy objects across the cushioned flooring as it often results in permanent damage to the surface.

The Cleaning Process

Step 1: Measure and Inspection
Our technician will walk through your home with you to visually inspect the carpet. He will identify potential permanent stains and give you an evaluation of expected results as well as discussing any concerns you may have. He will also give you a total cost before starting your cleaning.

Step 2: Pre-vacuum
Dry soil is removed by thoroughly power vacuuming. Removing dry soil is one of the most vitally crucial steps in any cleaning process.

Step 3: Pre-spot
Difficult spots are pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal.

Step 4:Pre-spray
A preconditioning agent is applied to emulsify and break down traffic area soil and general spots for a more thorough cleaning.

Step 5: Pre-grooming
A heavy-duty carpet groomer is used to loosen the soil and bring more dry soil, hair and loose fiber to the surface.

Step 6: Soil Extraction and Rinse
The carpet is then thoroughly rinsed using a powerful hot water extraction system without over wetting the carpet or leaving a sticky residue.

Step 7: Neutralizer
Every carpet that we clean is pH balanced afterwards so that there is no sticky residue left behind. This also leaves your carpet soft and fresh.

Step 8: Post Spot
Any spots or stains still remaining will get extra treatment with our many specialty spotting solutions.
*For longer carpet life and fewer permanent stains, be sure to have professional carpet protector applied to your carpet.

Step 9: Post-Cleaning Inspection
Our technician will walk through your home with you to point out the cleaning results to make sure you are completely thrilled with the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you insured?

Do you guarantee your work?
I offer a 100% money-back guarantee. If you are not thrilled with your service experience, I will rush back to your location at no charge and no obligation. If you are still unimpressed, I will issue a 100% refund upon request.

How safe and "green" are your cleaning methods?
We use only the highest quality, safest cleaning solutions on the market.

How did I get these ugly black lines around the edge of my carpets?
I see a lot of homes with these dark lines on the carpet. This is called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as the HVAC system is pulling it through the crack below the baseboard. As the air passes through the carpet, this microscopic soiling is deposited. By the time there is enough soiling to be visible, a considerable amount of filtration soiling has occurred.

This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Can it be removed? Sometimes. With the right chemicals, time and effort, reasonable results can sometimes be achieved. To help prevent filtration soiling, change your air filters frequently and vacuum the edges of your carpet with the vacuum hose.

What Process do you use to clean carpet?
I use the Hot Waters Extraction method for residential Cleaning.

How long does the carpet take to dry?
This varies with the weather, but it is normal for carpets to be dry about four hours after cleaning. Ceiling fans will help speed up the drying process.

Should I put off cleaning for as long as possible?
No. Foot traffic, along with dry soil in the carpet, will cause wear in the carpet fibers. Carpet wear is something that no amount of cleaning can restore. To ensure a long, healthy life for your carpet, you should clean in once a year.

Should I have my carpet dry cleaned or steam cleaned?
Most major carpet manufacturers recommend truck-mounted hot water extraction. Hot-water extraction done properly removes soil and spots better than dry cleaning.

Does your cleaning process soak the backing of the carpet? No. When hot waters extraction is properly preformed, moisture does not penetrate the backing of the carpet. With my powerful truck-mounted equipment, your carpet will be thoroughly rinsed, but when I leave it will only be damp to the touch, and will be completely dry a few hours later.

Can you remove pet stains and pet odors?
Pet odor is a very common problem! I can help you with that. The solution depends on the extent of the problem. I will help find the solution that works best for for.
The problem with pet odor is that it can be much deeper than it first appears. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is multilayered.
The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This, in turn, contributes to a worsening of the odor problem and can contribute to permanent color loss of the carpet fiber.
To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or neutralized from each of the affected layers. If the contamination is limited to only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor. In more severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied.
In the worst cases, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required. Even replacement of the carpet, however, cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor. If pet odor is left untreated for a long time, it can become absorbed into many of the porous materials that can absorb these odors.
I offer a range of solutions to help you with your pet odor problems. In the long run, however, it may be more a matter of proper maintenance instead of total elimination. After all, we love our pets and want to keep them a part of our family. Pet ownership adds to the challenge of maintaining a clean and healthy home. I can help you meet those challenges.

Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning

What are the health benefits of a HVAC system cleaning?

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems have been shown to act as a collection source for a variety of contaminants that have the potential to affect health, such as fungi, bacteria, and very small particles of dust. Indoor air pollution is a serious health risk. The removal of such contaminants from the HVAC system and home should be considered as one component in an overall plan to improve indoor air quality.

Can HVAC cleaning lower my energy bills?

Research by the U.S. EPA has demonstrated that HVAC system cleaning may allow systems to run more efficiently by removing debris from sensitive mechanical components. Clean, efficient systems are less likely to break down, have a longer life span, and generally operate more effectively than dirty systems.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer Vent Fires are a serious problem in New Jersey. Homeowners often neglect having their dryer vents cleaned, causing lint to accumulate, greatly increasing the risk of fire.

Upholstery Cleaning

Depending on the condition of your furniture and the fabrics used, the best way to clean upholstery may be to use a spray cleaner, brush and rag, or to use a machine to deep clean the upholstery. Furniture is used for seating and relaxing on a daily basis. The traffic and use eventually leads to wear and tear. If you're noticing that your furniture is looking rather drab or dingy over time, it may be time to explore some of the best upholstery cleaning options.
